As the Hornell Area Wind Ensemble prepares to embark
on it's 21st season of bringing music to our community
the group would like to announce a special invitation
to musicians in our area.
Conductor, Edward Belin, and Wind Ensemble president,
James Caneen, would like to invite community members
who have played a concert band instrument, but have
perhaps allowed their talents to lapse over the years,
to attend rehearsals and find out what the group is
all about.
Mr. Belin will select two pieces geared toward this
skill level which will be rehearsed at the beginning
of each Tuesday night rehearsal. Anyone wishing to "blow
the dust" out of their old band instrument can
attend the first portion of each rehearsal and sit in
with the group in a very non-pressured atmosphere.
"Our hope is to reach out to our community members
who wish they could get back into playing music like
they did in high school or college.", says Belin.
"So often people say to me that they wish they
had never put their instruments down because they remember
the enjoyment of making music on their own, not just
listening to others do it.
"We feel this another way to make our group available
to even more people in our community.", adds Caneen.
"This can give many people the opportunity to,
once again, enjoy making music with others," "And",,
he adds, "welcome new members if anyone would like
to continue in the group."
For anyone interested in trying out the music there
will be two meet and greet sessions held at the Hornell
High School ban room. On August 30 & 31, there will
be Wind Ensemble members available from 7 to 8:30pm.
Interested persons may also pick up the music which
will be performed so they may have an opportunity to
look it over prior to the first rehearsal on September
5th at 7:30pm in the Intermediate School auditorium.
For more information, interested musicians may contact
Ed Belin at 585-593-0118 or Jim Caneen at 607-545-8603.
